A Smart Bet on Smarter Surgeries Through Automated Instrument Identification

Interoperative delays cost U.S. hospitals an estimated $10–13 billion annually. An additional $4 billion is lost every year in reprocessing unused instruments. CorrTray tackles both problems at the source: Instrument Identification.

CorrTray’s AI-powered imaging platform

  • Addresses the cause of 86.6% of surgical tray errors in manual instrument identification

  • Reduces intraoperative delays, streamlines SPD workflows, and improves hospital operations

In The SPD

  • +$14 billion in reducing interoperative delays

  • +$4 billion in mitigating unnecessary reprocessing

  • Decreased institutional liability and streamlined SPD onboarding operational scheduling efficiency

Additional Applications

  • Intraoperative support for surgical technologists in instrument Identification and inventory verification: improving operating efficiency, and reducing risk of retained surgical instruments

  • Inventory management and order fulfillment support for surgical supply vendors: improving efficiency and quality assurance

Market Opportunity:

Current State of Development:

While surgical trays and instrument inventories continue to grow in size and complexity in response to medical advancements, SPDs remain chronically overburdened and technologically under-supported. CorrTray meets a growing operational need in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and vendor inventory systems—addressing costly inefficiencies across an addressable market of tens of thousands of healthcare facilities.

Our team has completed a working demo of our instrument identification software. We are now focused on expanding our database of scanned surgical instruments to increase the applicability of our software. To this end, we are seeking funding to support the direct development of our database or strategic partnerships with hospitals and instrument vendors with existing instrument databases.

Invest in CorrTray: We’re seeking strategic partners to help scale our technology, accelerate adoption, and expand our clinical impact.
